Girl Chat | Hair Help

Do all girls obsess over their hair for days leading up to their next hair appointment, or is it just me?  Outside of my other favorite topics (designs for my clients, Georgia, and food), it's all that I can think about this week.  I think spring also brings a spirit of change in the air -- shed the weight and start anew, right?

So anyway.  My hair appointment is early next week and I need some help, guys.

So, here's what we're working with:

BEFORE

Excuse the stank face (but if your ends were that scraggly, wouldn't you make a stank face too?).  This is my current hair -- day 3 post wash, air-dried, not brushed*.  Also, no filters or editing, so you can get an accurate depiction of the color.  Obviously, a few inches have to go.  That goes without saying.  I have A LOT of crazy thick hair (3/4 of my hair is hiding behind my back), so it will be nice to lighten the load.

Ideally, I'd love a low-maintenance, cut that can go from tousled to sleek and continue to look effortless.  You know what I'm talking about -- that "cool" girl cut that's currently all over Pinterest and celebrities.

Not sure if it will work with my thick hair, but I'll let me stylist decide.  Overall, I feel pretty good about it. If you don't -- speak now or forever hold your peace.

Now here comes the area where I really need help...

COLOR

Y'all, I don't even know where to start.  Lighter? Darker? Keep the auburn tones?  Ditch the auburn tones?

The floor is open for discussion!

*Does that make me sound like the laziest human being ever, or what?

  1. I think your color is completely gorgeous as is. Super flattering on you. I wouldn't touch it! So I vote KEEP...the auburn tones, everything.

  2. I think Miranda Kerr's cut would be great and I totally agree that color is perfect...honestly you'd probably just be as fantastic with just a fresh cut to get the ends manageable! And yes I think we all obsess when we're a few days out from our hair appts...I'm always thinking I'll do something so drastic and then end up getting a trim lol!

  4. So I know this is super unfun, but I agree that you could totally stick with the color, meaning you may not even need color. (Which is sooo boring to hear). If you want a little change, I like the third picture (I guess Miranda Kerr?) on you. I know we all hate to hear it, but the color you usually lean toward looks best.

Come on over to the dark side sister.

  5. You know what I love. . . caramel tones, trim, and lots of thinning and layers.

But I'm also a huge fan of doing something kooky crazy! It's hair and it will grow back. Just remember that all of your "first trip to Europe" photos will have you in this style!! Just sayin'

  7. Yes, yes, yes!!! You will look so amazing with that haircut. I thought pic #1 was an after at first. Lol I'm so jealous that you can just wash & go. My hair is effing thick, curly, and pretty much the shittiest to have to style. I curse it every time wash day rolls around. Keep your color, it's beautiful!!
